Information about the beginners course "Open Water Diver".

The course contains 3 different parts: theory, swimming pool or confined water training and deep or open water training water training.

The open water course can be done in 5 days.

The first 2 days you will learn all the basics of scuba diving in shallow water (1 to 3 metres).

On day 3 and 4 you will make 4 open water dives (from 5 metres to maximum 18 metres) to repeat all exercises you have learned in the first 2 days. On day 5 you will make the theory exam.

During these 4 days you will have to read your theory book. (5 chapters) You will watch the video and you have to make review question. This part can also be done before you start the course. (if you are willing to buy the book)
After the theory you have to make a multiple choice exam with 50 questions. When you have passed this exam and when the instructor has evaluated your skills with "sufficient" after the last training dive, you will be the proud owner of the "open water diver" certfication card which allows you to rent equipment and dive anywhere in the world.

We provide the all materials for the theoretical and practical parts of the course. The materials stay property of Bougainville.
If you want to prepare yourself before your holiday and buy a book you can order all materials from with us. (It is recommended to prepare yourself because you save at least 1 day holiday.)

It is also possible to do the pool training and theory in your home town and than finish the open water part with us.
The advantage is that you save 2 to 3 days of your holiday and you can spend more time fun diving. This is called the referral principle. Your local dive centre can inform you about the details.
